Odd Couples-Odd Titles!

Food for thought for those trying to think laterally for a wider interpretation from the obvious.

Now that the Competition is closed, I share my 2 images -not entered, and the my personal thoughts as the originator, that resulted in the images.

Rhythmically Coupled

This Image was taken this year at 2024 TaviFringe Festival in Bedford Square- always a fruitful event.

During post processing the coordinated beating of coupled Drums (odd number 5), pairs of drumsticks (odd number 5) and synchronised arms and bodies (5) leapt from the screen (odd number of odds!) and leaves me with the memory of the pounding in the chest.

To me the convention of faces is not needed, the anonymous unity(odd 1-ultimate prime number) of the group is the crux of the image.

The colourful T shirts and drum shades, completes the visual appeal to me.

Odd indeed!

The original image was captured in 2024 on the returning Ferry from Brittany up on the Helicopter Deck.

It has been manipulated to fit my musings and the subject!

The obvious are the two odd numerals!-not as placed in reality

The less obvious are the odd number of yellow arcs (5),contrasting the colourful (1)blue deck.

The even less obvious might be the very limited palette of only 3 monotone colours, making an unconventional 2 dimensional image with no leading lines or perspective or tonal variation.

The least obvious aspect of the process, were the here, unseen gazes from the fellow passengers looking at me photographing downwards at the deck and not selfies at the ships railings!

Some might wonder WHY? But as I illustrated in the 1st then AI subgroup feedback to the then TCC 10 or more years ago, why did Van Gough paint a single yellow chair! Because it was there at the time!

These two images epitomise my very personal approach to photography.
