Did these ideas have a psychological effect on me and my images?

Recently whilst tidying out, I came across some backnumbers of "BLACK+WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY" magazine.

With our new direction of "Open Shutter" (the renamed Altered Images), I was going to show selected images to the group together with pertinent text extracts underlined my me in the past. This might be food for thought here also, but I think copyright might be infringed in the FORUM by the images, so will show written extracts only here.

'Unless we learn to really look, to be aware of what's in front of us.....to fully appreciate it'

'....to encourage a wider and more OPEN way of looking'

'Seek out four or five practitioners with similar skills and meet once a month to exchange ideas, opinions and constructive ideas' (Open Shutter?)

'.... many great pictures come about as a result of EXPERIMENTATION'

'Become a storyteller ..... a series of shots that communicate a story yet work independently'

'.....focus on form'

'I find it easier to achieve that in mono'

'....what matters is the finished picture NOT how it was made'

AND FINALLY:

'Aside from technical ability, you need IMAGINATION, PATIENCE, OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS and the COURAGE TO GO YOUR OWN WAY'

I will be sharing many more with Open Shutter as an integral part of our inevitable discussions over time.
